plastship sets clear priorities for 2025: Innovations and partnerships for a circular plastics economy

Waldems, January 2025 – With a clear focus on system establishment, digitalization, partnerships, and practical solutions, plastship kicks off the new year. The mission remains unchanged: to further promote the use of recyclates and strengthen the circular economy. Through initiatives such as the Plastics Recycling Taskforce, the Recycled Material Benchmark, and expanded sourcing activities, plastship aims to set new standards and accelerate progress in the industry.

Partnerships as the key to success

The circular economy is a collective effort, and plastship fully embraces this principle. "Sustainable together and together sustainably" remains the guiding motto in 2025. Through close cooperation with industry partners, plastship aims to further expand the use of recyclates in high-quality applications.

Our vision is not only to improve access to recycled materials but also to strengthen the entire supply chain,

explains Andreas Bastian, CEO of plastship.

New services from partner companies will be seamlessly integrated into plastship’s portfolio, enabling tailored solutions – from material qualification and sourcing to product development.

plastship's taskforce & benchmark for greater transparency & quality

With the Plastics Recycling Taskforce or the Recycled Material Benchmark, plastship continues to provide comprehensive support to companies in overcoming the challenges of plastics recycling. The taskforce brings together expertise in recyclability, the use of recyclates, and regulatory requirements, offering flexible, tailored services. At the same time, the benchmark enhances transparency in recyclate assessment by analyzing and standardizing chemical and physical properties. This combination of expert knowledge and market transparency not only simplifies material selection for companies but also strengthens confidence in recycled plastics.

KISS project: AI & digitalization as drivers of the circular economy

Another focus for 2025 is the KISS project ("AI-based qualification, management, and optimization of material flows"). Here, plastship is developing a central database in collaboration with partners to advance the standardization and evaluation of material qualities. With artificial intelligence as the central technology, plastship aims to revolutionize the recyclate market and drive digitalization in the circular economy.

Innovation and exchange: plastship at leading trade fairs

In 2025, plastship will also be present at key industry events, including PRSE in April, FACHPACK in September, or K-Messe in October. At these events, the company will not only showcase innovative services and technologies but also promote direct dialogue with partners and interested parties.

Outlook: transparency, quality, and collaboration at the core

2025 is a year focused on transparency and quality for us. With initiatives like the Taskforce and the Benchmark, we aim to sustainably shape the market and work together with our partners towards a functioning circular economy with plastics,

says Andreas Bastian.

plastship sets clear priorities to support companies in the transition to a resource-efficient economy and to provide new impulses for the plastics recycling industry. With this strong foundation, the company looks forward to a year full of innovations and collaborations.
